The Black Iris Returns

Last year there was a black hole where the black iris should have been. In this wild lush you never know what could have happened to it. Only its bloom says I am alive and still here.



I think it is time to part the wild lush, find all the connecting rhizomes of the black iris and move it to a safer undisclosed location where it will prosper and multiply.



Much, much more of the black iris would be a fine thing.

    I have one of these, as well. There's just something unexpected about a black iris. Mine are still a few weeks away from blooming, here in zone 4.

    I had one in N.C. It was pretty but it didn't make it down here, I guess due to my not fhaving time back then.

    A friend of mine had one of these. She gave me a start and it turned purple. That was a big disappointment. I don't know if it was stress or if it just didn't like the soil.

    Sallysmom I have no idea what its proper cultivar name is, hence the Black Iris. Maybe someone else around here knows its real name.
