A Sign
To what effect we shall see. Seeds are being gathered for the roadside vegetable garden. I'll be going heavy on the dried beans, winter squash and storable root crops.

And It Was Good
July is a peak bloom for the sunny utility meadow and the roadside vegetable garden. Bulbarella's hundreds of daylily are blooming throughout. They will make for a fine Bloom Day visit for May Dreams Gardens readers.
The summer chicory is here.
There is a lily that held its bloom through a Blackberry Winter. Very few others did.
Morning in the wild cultivated gardens.
Feral parsnips and dill mix with roses and poppies.
It's a flower cacophony in there while I wait for the fine produce to form.
Wild leeks are completely surrounded by daylilies.
Some quality time and attention has been helping the fine produce along. The very day after this picture was taken, I woke to find some damn varmint had spent the night rooting through the mulch looking for worms and bugs. The plants were untouched. Some minor collateral damage.
A 250lb pig could not possibly be that tidy for such a mess. I am beginning to wonder if armadillos have arrived this far north. I need a critter cam.
In the meantime, three acres of wild cultivated gardens that now includes the roadside vegetable garden continue to be liberally sprayed with hot pepper water. The deer have worn out their welcome. Get Off My Lawn!
They don't eat the daylilies that I can tell. If they do, it's gonna be hot.
So it goes for Bloom Day.

The Roadside Vegetable Garden 2020
Up top along the byway
A late start that missed a Blackberry Winter was pulverized by a hail storm.
It's still in there. There will be fine produce of some kind at some point.
Warm has returned. Repair and growth has resumed.
Amongst the weed flowers.
Half vegetable garden
A bigger half of solid daylilies to the right and she still isn't satisfied.
With parsnips in bloom
And verbena on a stick that was introduced a decade ago. This is the earliest appearance ever.
They drive by
To sky blue chicory mornings
Floral works and Firefly nights

Begin Daffodils
Going to and fro to Solly's house twice a day means I am walking that way a bit more often when the weather permits. Daylight on the right end of the day means there is no need to hurry and one visit to the chiropractor made a big improvement in my walking.
The bulbs are rising. The first daffodils have started to bloom in this warm.
I have been watching daffodils for over a decade now.
In the land of Bulbarella Stinze
And beyond
I have some thoughts about how all these bulbs actually preform here. I just don't care to type about it.
Even the Rattler is stirring.
