Cyber Squatting

I have claimed this name and blog address for my relocation from Maui to the Smoky Mountains of North Carolina.

Depending on computer accessibility and time available, Outside Clyde will go live around early to late July 2007.

I'm already intrigued by that chimney in the woods. Your property looks lovely.

Am I the first person to comment on your new blog??

Welcome home, CC! We're all right behind you.

And, yes, Pam. You seem to be the first to comment. [#!&^ it!]

Hi Christopher :)))

Welcome back to the mainland! Are you settling in okay so far?

Whatever you do -- don't give up your tropicalembellishments.blogspot.com address. (Instead, just change your e-mail notification address for your Tropical Embellishments blog to your new e-mail address). Apparently, some spammer lays claim to the abandoned addresses via "squatters' rights", since those well-established addresses would obviously direct more traffic to their spam sites than any brand new web address would.

I recently made a slight change to my blog address and name, so I gave up my old one. Today, I accidentally entered my old address instead of my new one, and discovered that someone named "johhnie" took my old address and added the lower-case letter "m" in front of what used to be my blog's name. When I clicked on his View My Complete Profile, there was a long list of other blog names with one single letter of the alphabet preceding each name (just like he did to mine).

I think this is how his scheme works:

If you go to johhnie's (the spammer's) profile, click on the blog named "g gilbertkerrigan", where you'll see that the address is gilbertkerrigan.blogspot.com Now, if you do a Google search for "Gilbert Kerrigan", the second entry that comes up on the Google list is for a post entitled "Random Thoughts from a Red Head". That listing also has the address gilbertkerrigan.blogspot.com But now, instead of directing you to that "Random Thoughts from a Red Head" post, clicking on that Google entry will lead you to the new "g gilbertkerrigan" spam site.

So please keep your Tropical Embellishments address safe, so that we can still go there sometimes to re-read your posts and see all your photos and videos stored there -- and to reminisce about "the good old days" we spent visiting and chatting with you.
