Are these the people who told you the garden's never looked better? It looks like Fine Gardening to me. Very nice. Did you take a before shot?

Yes that client. I started work there last fall after the first couple of hard frosts and everything was pretty brown and dormant. I did obvious pruning and weeding, but the client prefers to do major cleanup in the spring, leaving the plants for winter interest and wildlife. It wasn't until this spring that I could truly tell the damage from the Great Easter Freeze of 07 and began to prune that out.

I can't take credit for the overall design of the garden. It was a done deal when I got there. You could just tell it was a maturing garden with some plants being out competed and that it had been neglected a bit for a couple of years.

Usually I am there in the day when the light is all wrong for pictures and they have not turned out well. I went late one afternoon to water the newly installed plants, no irrigation system, and got some better shots.

This is a professional office building, not a residence.
