Computer Bugs

Update: Site Meter regained consciousness around 2:30 PM on 8-2-2008. All is well again.

All of a sudden I started getting the message, "Internet Explorer can not open ... ...." Mostly it was Blogger blogs, but there were several other non-Google Blogger sites from the back waters of blogdom to the biggest of the big sites were this message was aborting the page from loading. WTF is going on?

It turns out Site Meter is having a nervous breakdown and any and all sites with Site Meter code will be aborted from loading when using Internet Explorer as the browser.

I copied and pasted the Site Meter code into a Word document and then removed it from my blog. Now Outside Clyde loads up just fine in Internet Explorer. I won't be able to read any other sites that have Site Meter code until this problem is fixed.

What will the computer geeks think up next? But hey, it's all allegedly free. You can't complain too loudly.

Do you know whether it's been fixed? I usually use Firefox, but I just checked on my blog (which uses Site Meter) using Internet Explorer, and it came up just fine.

I had that trouble yesterday evening with several trying to read them, including yours. It's always something, isn't it?

This morning I can get to Pam/digging's blog, but not Frances's. Last night I could get to neither one, so I think the problem isn't fixed, and Pam removed the sitemeter code from her blog?

Thanks for posting about this, maybe others will see it and fix their blogs. I'm going to put it on Twitter...

It is not fixed at 8:30 AM this morning. I did a little surfing and still get the same message at many blogs.

Carol a post from you will reach the widest audience. I couldn't get to Pam's or Frances' blogs. Most people still use IE as their browser. I have Firefox on my computer for such times, but I am not on my computer until I have a cabin to put it in.

Carol, as of this writing I have not removed the Site Meter code, and yet I can still access my own blog from Internet Explorer. But since others are reporting trouble getting to it, I think I'll go ahead and remove the Site Meter code.

Thanks for the heads-up, Christopher.

Pam, No need to remove the code. Site Meter is fixed and up and running again.

Thanks for this info. I just got back home and am glad to not have to do anything to the sitemeter. I was going to delete it, I hardly even look at it lately. Maybe more in the winter when there is not so much to do outside. Are you super busy in the garden too?

I like the bugs in your pictures as companion to the ones in the computer...the "live" ones are prettier for sure!
