On A Cool December Morning

I was surprised it hadn't snowed.

When the sun came high enough I got busy transplanting some of the Yucca filamentosa over to the slope below the cabin. You can make out three new ones on the right starting with the bright yellow one up top then moving down slope towards the left.

There was something different though. The new transplants were not as bright and colorful as the existing ones on the slope. Had the different growing locations changed their color intensity?

I looked closer. Aha! What is that about?

I looked it up on the internet. I have Yucca filamentosa 'Color Guard' with a yellow stripe in the center.

And I have Yucca filamentosa 'Bright Edge' with yellow stripes on the leaf margins and a green center. What to do? What to do? What to do?  Nothing I suppose.

Just keep moving. I headed into the roadside bed and tidied it up for the winter Under Garden display. I feel much better now. The two different cultivars of the yucca are not a problem. I can handle diversity.

On a cold winter morning it felt like snow was on the way. A look at the diagnosis just confirmed it.

I think it is kind of funny that you were wondering what was going on with the different stripes. I have done that with hostas. :)

They looked exactly the same until I put them side by side and then it took a few moments to figure out what the problem was that made them look so different.
