I Have Arrived

To the top of these mountains on the far left side, just Outside Clyde, after driving 28 hours straight from Denver. In a day or so my head should clear.

There are some nice rocks on the property.

It is quite lush and beautiful here in the mountains. I look forward to exploring the area in much more detail. Today I look at maps.

Christopher;

Your new home looks gorgeous. The rock you showed is spectacular! Is there any water on your property?
I look forward to hearing/seeing what wild flora you find on your property, although I suspect next spring will reveal far more than what you see now. Keep it coming - if you're not too tired!

Nice rock!

Two day trips I can recommend to help you orient yourself to the local flora. The North Carolina Arboretum is just outside Asheville. And Pisgah National Forest is just north and west of you, I believe. They have some interpretive trails and nature centers there. And bring your swim trunks and check out Sliding Rock!

I have lots of photos and posts for both on my blog and Flickr site to give you an idea of what you can find at both places.

Welcome home!

Xris, I plan to get a job at the NC Arboretum. I hope that plan works out!

I have been here many times before in my life, but never lived here. Now I will get the chance to know the place intimately.

Yes there is water here, the head waters of a small stream. I will drill a well for the main water supply.
