Prayer For An Inversion

Under crystal clear skies
The wind is still

False Solomon's Seal, Maianthemum racemosum
Unbattered by downpours
Revels in a strong dappled light.

Today the business of new life hummed
The bigger Phacelia bipinnatifida
Makes ready to join in abundant numbers
Two rampant Phacelia brethren
Cavorting in a wild cultivated garden

Viburnum carlesii? still damaged by past battles
Valiantly covers its thin body in white tresses
A warning in clear air
Tainted by a deep resonating cool

Be still tonight
Let the days warmth rise
High up to the mountain tops

Patchy frost may settle below
Cold in the valley bottoms
Far from the heights of Dame's Rocket
Multi-colored Hesperis matronalis
Protected in rising air

Be still tonight
Petal covers closed
Clinging to the remains of sunshine

Be still tonight
Let the days warmth rise
High up to the mountain tops

Beautiful prose to complement beautiful photos. It looks like spring really has sprung.

Let's hope that nasty old cold man stay's away from all that beauty. Seems a bit late for this kind of temps. Even here it was 59ยบ late this afternoon. Unusual for here this time of yr.
Crazy weather--can't make up it's mind sometimes.
Like your rhyming.

Hi Christopher, may your prayers be answered. Just now checking in the vestibule, the thermometer reads 48. Maybe you are 10 degrees colder? At least the trees being leafed out might help some too, protecting sensitive individual.

This mornings low was 35.7, thank goodness. Yesterday's was 33.9. The diagnosis for tomorrow is 37.

It wouldn't surprise me if I lose a few of the cucurbits or melons to hypothermia like last year. Everything else looked fine yesterday.

I loved your words and photos, but especially the words.
