Aaack!!

It was only supposed to go down to 36 degrees according to the weather diagnosis.

I didn't bring anything in.

I was going to do that tonight when the diagnosis called for patchy frost.

I'm not too worried about the gardens and all the plants in the ground. They have been through a lot and come out smiling.

But who will survive and who will die in my trays of sprouting seeds?

Oh no, oh no oh no! Maybe it was a 'warm' snow? The weather guys are saying it is tonight to watch out, I brought the stuff in this morning. But there was frost on the house roof across the street that sits lower than us. Oh your poor babies, we will think good thoughts for them.

Damn! Sorry dude, hate to have to be the one to tell you this, but your tender ones are dead!

I should have included some row cover in your care package.

Bummer! You're sure getting an extended taste of winter in your new home, aren't you?

The seed casualties so far are the Hyacinth Bean and the Digitalis, which had been struggling anyway.

The Salvia nemorosa, Hollyhocks, Texas Bluebonnets and Campanula look pretty good. Other things like the Datura, Lavender, Callicarpa and Passion Vine had not even germinated.

I'm seeing a small greenhouse/coldframe in my future.

Tonight it gets colder. Had to go drain all the outside water lines again.

What a disappointment. I hope you haven't lost all the seed tray sprouts.

We stayed warmer than predicted. Lucky us.

Wow... what an unpleasant surprise. Good to hear that you have a number of survivors, though--that's promising. Do you have more HB vine and foxglove seeds stashed away?

I have plenty more Hyacinth Bean, but no more Digitalis. The seeds of those were microscopic. I got excellent germination with them, than a bad case of damping off. The survivors were potted up. A few more died, than the rest got froze. I do not lack for flowers though. Most of our weeds are pretty.

Amazing how hardy digitalis becomes, and yet the seedlings are not. I guess that's true for all hardy plants.

Wow, I'm behind - your garden has exploded! I hope some of the seedlings made it - that was an unkind frost, no doubt - but it did look beautiful.
