The pond plants grew so well they actually began to slow and backup the water enough to cause some siphoning and overflow of water along the stream bank causing a rapid loss in water. I had to start weeding out some of the pond plants to restore the flow and stop the water loss.
Most of the stream side plants have settled in and grown. They have not grown enough to drape over any of the rocks. It's still a bit too rocky. I also think I need a bit more height on the right hand side.
I try not to be impatient because some of the woody plants will eventually fill in a big chunk of space and the perennials will grow larger. The Creeping Raspberry, Rubus calycinoides is well on its way to draping over some rocks.
The goldfish have more than doubled in size and three koi were added when the big pond was cleaned and the baby koi were thinned out and sent to new ponds.
All was well. Then the water turned green this week. Green water means excess nutrients. So where did they come from? Over feeding? Storm runoff from the dog lawn? Hopefully it will be brief and the filter pad can handle it.
The first year of my first babbling brook has gone quite well.

I too think it looks great. I am sure all appreciate the babble.
It turned out so well they had me install an inline, out of pond filter in the much bigger koi pond. It cleared the water in that pond right up. I need to take some pictures of that one day.
And when you get your first really cold killing frost the water will be crystal clear to the bottom. It is quite exciting. The fish don't know what to do.
