Finishing Up With Mums

The Sheffie Mums from Fairegarden,Tn are pretty much the last peak bloomer of the season. They come into their prime as all else fades away.

They have taken clues from their surrounding and are showing signs of turning feral. They don't set seed, but they do spread with abandon.

Some were spread with a backhoe. Come spring more will be spread with a shovel. What''s not to like about such a cheery bloom to finish off the time of vegetation? I found another much pinker one with a white center in a client's garden. A few sprigs of it will be following me home next spring.

Tiny little sprigs of the Yellie Mums were planted by the service entrance three years ago. This weekend I hope they will be getting a 'Midnight Blue' companion in the decks and stair treads.

The porch floors are the last things on the cozy cabin to get painted. Then I can start painting all over again.

Aren't those sheffies and yellies and all of their offspring just the best mums ever? They do tend to move around a bit and even die out from the original planting, but you are treating them just right. Let them go feral and move pieces wherever you want more. They look especially nice with the Aster 'October Skies', too. Thanks for the linkage!

They are a great late season bloomer. The last bloom on the mountain for me.
