It is a high elevation prairie at 4600 feet.
Wild flowers are unwanted in a hay field.
But this mountain top bald is managed for purposes other than hay.
It's mowed for kite flying.
And short hikes to the top.
It's mowed for a 360 degree view.
I did mention kite flying.
I may need to have this picture printed and framed.
I did some botanizing. There was quite a bit of the Flattened Oat Grass in the prairie. It prefers the higher elevation.
It is a favorite place for romanticizing.
The Appalachian Trail runs right through it. This is Max Patch.
On a warm and partly sunny, 4th of July day, thank you clouds, Bulbarella, Sister #1 and I went for a short stroll on a nearby mountain top. I recommend it for the wild flowers. The view is pretty nice too.

Lola I think so too. Can't beat a bald mountain for the view.
Yes, print and frame the kite-flying picture, but be sure to do the same for that perfectly composed final picture.
