The Bear In A Tall Flower Meadow

I appear to be on the late summer route.

The bear is a regular morning visitor it seems. They probably always have been. I have just never been home during the day to see them so often.

I like this cropped picture better. It shows off the Tall Flower Meadow coming into full bloom and the bear to better advantage.

The bear went up the stairs. Time to get in the house.

The bear poops all over the stairs and back stoop. So do racoons.

Over the river and through the woods, to Bulbarella's house is next on the route.

The Vibration Of The Bear

I had one fleeting chance to get a picture and this is what I got. Somehow it speaks to my chemo state of mind. I like the landscape painting quality found in the vibration. Click for a bigger picture.

I See Snowdrops

A mighty wind full of lightning blew through on the first wave of a hot front. The power was out for five hours. The temperatures have gotten above 60 degrees. Now things are headed back to cool. Not cold, in January. Niwaki.

The second wave of the storm poured through this morning. Then the skies began to clear.

And Solly came out. She gets to go out more often when I am around to supervise. I still have to protect her from Button, inside and out.

I love my winter garden.

But I started house cleaning in a storm and had to stick with it. The day's mood was set. I was also navigating the data across multiple platforms for my transition to Medicare health insurance. What fun.

I see snowdrops rising in ground soaked in warm rains. Let a new garden season begin.

In this kind weather the Witches will soon be out.

Solly

She is getting her princess groove back. That tail was whipping. Whip it good.

On The Day Of The Dead

Fall is finished on my mountain. The leaves have dropped.

The native Witch Hazel, Hamamelis virginiana is in full bloom.

Under pressure, my blood sugar remains a touch high and my cholesterol is creeping up, but I will live for a few more days. The pressure is under control.

I have blue asters for the Day of the Dead.

Blue asters as the bones come out.

The cat house remains surprisingly calm. A couple of weeks of verbal warnings plus moving some of Solly's scented furnishings over here early seems to have had the intended effect. Everyone's personal space is being respected and behind the sofa is not a coveted spot. The hissing is minimal. Solly has been venturing out from behind the sofa to explore more and more.

I voted on the Day of the Dead.

Warming Back Up To Cool

The leaves keep falling.

The barren time draws near.

Button went back out when the cold warmed to cool. There's a squirrel up there. A drift of white asters ignored the freeze.

There is still a chance for some color in the Fothergilla.

My new Georgia aster went back outside. The planting location has been decided.

I'm just going to do that after it finishes blooming so I can enjoy it up close for now.

The Blue Wood Asters survived the freeze almost completely unfazed. The fall crocus are now in bloom.

Into The Blue Asters

The sun has been out. The meadows are dry.

It has been getting cool enough for me to start preparing the plants that will need to go inside before a freeze.

The cats have been hunting as the vermin hurriedly gather nuts and seeds. Tis the season to put on my orange hat.

It draws me down into the blue asters.

In Monkshood blue.

This is where my ashes go when I am done.

I tinker on

In a moody, ever-changing garden.

A place where the wild animals wander all about. Button. Is that you?

Farewell Miss Collar

She was loved, a one human cat her entire life.

Back into the blue asters we wander.

Back into the earth that made us.

Down to the Great Lawn where the earth is deep and soft.

Farewell Miss Collar. You were loved with a posh life in the forest. There can be a memorial fire on another day. I need more sticks. They will fall, and the weather is turning cooler.

Button and Dinah had a chance to say goodbye. Then they ventured down for the burial.

Through the looking glass

That is where you will find her.

They buried cats with the Pharaohs.

Back into the blue waters.

Into the firepit bindi of Creation.

Then the sticks fell in a mighty blow and the power went out for over twelve hours before I could finish the post. There will be sticks to pick up. Lots of sticks and branches.

Farewell Miss Collar. Into the blue asters we wander.

Fly Away

You never know when your own moment of rapture will occur. One thing is certain, that day is getting closer.

How big will the heiau get before no more rocks are added to the pile?

What will become of the meadow as I tinker? This year I moved starts of Rodgersia and Syneilesis down to more sun. Some Ligularia fell out of the ground and followed me home. Everything is doing well in the wet bottom sunshine.

The meadows are constantly changing. I tinker. Nature provides reality.

Miss Collar is going back to the vet tomorrow. She is not well. I need to know if it is her time.

Reason.

I had a free-range childhood.

I found reason outside in the wild places.
