A Garden In Maui

Heading to the original Client #1's.

The nine year old front beds of tropical perennial flowers gets revamped

While plenty of evidence remains of the original design and how big and fast things can grow.

These where all just tiny things when I planted them.

The lei cutting garden.

The hillside of jasmine, Trachelospermum jasminoides.

I don't remember planting these. I remember buying them shortly before I left as leftover Christmas plants with two to three trees per pot. The extras were sacrificed.

Gardens grow quickly on Maui.

It looks like you are having a fabulous time! Your pictures are spectacular. I was oowing over the gorgeous flower pictures when I realized ~ I have some of these in my yard! The Calliandra is an incredible plant and blooms continuously.

I know you have a birthday coming up (as it is either on the same day as mine or a day apart). Will you be celebrating in Maui this year?

Christopher, I was wondering if you would find time to visit the homes of some of your old clients. How does it feel? It is bound to make you proud, at least, seeing how your babies have grown up. Do you think 'Yeah, that's the look I was after!
or do you think 'I wish I'd done that a little differently'?

It looks fantastic. Your work was well done. I know you are proud of the way it looks. Things do grow fast when they are lovingly tended.

How fun to have a stand of Auracaria like that to look forward to. And I have long maintained that Hawaiian gardens need more tree ferns, so glad to see some.

Siria yes a birthday on Maui is coming up. It is likely to pass unnoticed. I may even forget myself.

TandT I have visited several old clients and their gardens. I could write a book on it, the situations vary so much. After 20 years in the business on Maui I have watched many gardens come and go. The speed with which that happens here is rather phenomenal. In the same neighborhood are gardens I tended that have dried up and returned to desert scrub, gardens lovingly refreshed and tended and gardens that have matured to a more stable stasis. The real test of feelings will be when I visit my old garden.

Lola this is a fantastic place and in some ways I am more proud of the fact that people are happy to see me, friends and clients alike and welcome me with open hearts.

Bev, it was time.

Chuck this garden is on the wet windward side where tree ferns make more sense and have actually reseeded themselves in a few places.
