Don't Turn Your Back

Between the extreme swings and generous precipitations of the weathers and being busier of late, I haven't been on a stroll to the ridge top garden in a number of days. Things can change fast when you aren't looking. I missed the peak of the crocus or they got cooked in the snow storm on Monday morning which I find hard to believe. It's no wonder that some folks didn't realize how many crocus there are in the garden. If you skip a few days you can miss out.

Now the daffodils are really starting to bloom.

The daffodils are starting to bloom and the Puschkinia and Chionodoxa are no shows so far. The hosta are still quite asleep and the early Dogtooth Violets can't be found. Is this the progression of the new abnormal?

It is also quite possible my lack of a functioning memory continues to play tricks on me. If there is such a thing, I will never know what the proper time is for anything to show up and then bloom.

The anemones are showing up in greater numbers.

The daffodils are starting, but it is weeks away to peak bloom, weathers depending. The diagnosis is calling for highs in the 70's by mid week. The cold can't be completely finished with us yet. I might as well plant my greens, taters and sugar snap peas a week earlier than usual if this is how it's gonna be.

I found a new iris in the annex. Good thing. In a couple more days I would have missed it. The turkeys really pecked the crap out of the annex. I found bulbs on top of the ground. The soil there is so soft it is easy for them to scratch deep. I need to go through there, restore the paths and replant anything they might have dug up. Damn varmints!

I was happy to find my giant Chionodoxa coming up. I wasn't certain whether or not I set a backhoe lifted boulder on top of them. I knew there were daffodils where one of the big boulders was going and dug them up before hand. The others were kind of iffy. I wasn't sure what if anything would end up under them. Nature is abundant so no worries.

The Spots and I will have to go on evening strolls more regular now or we might miss something.

It's been a long time since you used the words "the Spots."

I like your new view.
Strolls are nice. We need to do them more often. Due to illness I almost missed an Amarillo blooming. Seems like the leaves on the fruit trees popped out over night.
I agree, long time since the words "the Spots" was used.

I consider the Spots their surname and plural form.

I bet the Spots are ready to stroll on these longer evenings. Luna likes for me to get out in the evening now that the days are longer. She doesn't want me to miss anything.
