Scratch.
I was having a very strong urge to buy me a plant. It was a need really. I had no energy to fight it off. The eight seedling Amsonia hubrichtii that had fallen out of the ground and followed me home helped a little, but after planting them I was still left unsatisfied.
This is Juniperus conferta 'Silver Mist', the latest addition to the low mounding tapestry of texture and color that makes up the winter under garden on the slope below the cozy cabin.
I was feeling annoyed. That is what really caused my plant purchase.
I am annoyed that the recent and continuing rains keep pressing the Tall Flower Meadow towards the ground. I want perky for the end of season show. I was annoyed when the woman who I rearranged my schedule for to fix her cow eaten flower bed emergency before her 50th wedding anniversary party cancelled on me at the last minute.
I can't be annoyed at an old ditzy woman, especially since she is related to some upper level local muckety-mucks. I can buy me a plant.
I planted my new 'Silver Mist' junipers on either side of this path up to the basement patio. It is a path. The meadow has just flopped over it. This path really needs some stone steps. It's on the list.
I'm actually quite excited to see the winter under garden this year. There have been tons of additions since last year. Is it bad that I am hoping for an early killing frost and heavy snows?
If the meadow is going to keel over with a little rain, why not?

Sometimes a little retail therapy is the best thing. Stunning contrast color on the Silver Mist.
Darn that lazy meadow. A little retail therapy is always good.
That Juniper is going to be gorgeous this winter (when it's not covered with snow).
Love your new buddy. Bummer on the cancel. Flop or not it still is pretty.
