I have been drawing the garden out in all directions. Evergreen groundcovers on the steep slopes, vinca above and cotoneaster below, add to the winter garden when I bring them out of hiding.
Joe Pye lives here in the time of vegetation. There was a bit too much water this year and the cotoneaster had some dieback. I'm hoping it was just the leaves and not the branches. No matter, it is covering the ground as intended.
More colored lines are growing into focus.
And spreading uphill.
Creation is the biggest focal point. No doubt about that.
But there is more to the winter garden. This year some of it got squashed. It's always, weather depending.
I had a lovely New Year's Day in my own garden. The wild flower surround of the roadside vegetable garden was chopped down and three posts in the rickety split rail fence held together with duct tape and old bailing wire got replaced.
Will there be any fine produce this year? I'm trying to eat with my new choppers for the very first time at this very moment. It's gonna take practice. There's still time before fine produce.
It all makes me wonder.
How did this happen? Where did it come from?
A long time peasant gardener was just a conduit for Ku'ulei 'Aina to speak louder. The hard of hearing might hear.

Sallysmom, that is a juniper cultivar, Juniperus chinensis if that large shrub in the foreground is what 'that' is.
