1000

Is this a momentous occasion or evidence of compulsive house bound behavior? 1000 posts have been posted with this one. I count my previous life because it counts.

It all began back in January of 2006 on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean because I needed a place to put some stories I had written. Because there was no defined purpose to this exercise in blogging, a completely new concept for a man on his first computer, the social network of the internet and garden bloggers in particular lead to what is Outside Clyde today. There is still a lack of a defined purpose. That may be the story of my life.

Next I got a digital camera and well a picture is worth a thousand words. Telling stories slipped by the wayside. Then my life completely changed.

I decided to build a whole new life from scratch, one piece at a time.

Seven hundred and nineteen posts have chronicled a thousand stones, a thousand nails, a thousand screws and a thousand boards. Ten thousand daffodils and ten thousand wildflowers colored a new life and filled the time between ten million raindrops and ten million snowflakes.

A whole new life is still a work in progress.

I blog on.

Congratulations Christopher! Your blog is tremendous and I wish you many more successful posts in between the drywall, paint and gardening. I must go and read your story before OutsideClyde one of these days.

As well you should (blog on), my friend. Your photographs alone would be worth visiting your blog, but your prose is also exquisite.
As to the purpose of life, some say it is these very relationships that matter. To a gardener, our relationshp with the earth may be enough.

Congratulations on the big 1000. I am so happy I have found the chronicle of your journey. You with your camera have inspired and entertained me many times. Let me join the chorus of "carry on" with a wish of best of luck.

Yes, Christopher, do carry on. Since I happened across your blog I have not only been entertained with your words & pics, I have had very fond memories brought forth.
Congratulations, my friend, with wishes for many more.

Congratulations on such a monumental journey. 1000 posts is a tremendous accomplishment as well as sharing the story of your "new life".
Please blog on.

Thanks Siria. There is definitely more work to come. The insulation is boring. My next big push is to finish the siding.

So true Bev about the purpose of things. The interaction with the readers is what it is all about. I probably would have stopped by now if no one was out there. Even gardeners need real live friends now and again.

Thanks Kim. It is easier to blog since I no longer watch TV.

Carol, goodness. I sure hope and pray it is done by 1500. I better post less.

Les your comments are present enough.

Thanks Lisa. One of the other good things is getting visitors to our gardens from fellow bloggers.

Lola I am so happy my blog makes you have fond memories of your years in WNC.

Thanks Deborah. Yes a few monuments are being built along the way.

There's no way I'm going to reach my goal of 300 for this year. I have to make 119 more posts this year just to match the same number of posts I made last year.

Maybe I should convert to a half-garden, half-cat blog.

Congrats, Christopher, you still are telling some mighty fine stories, they just happen to be of the non fictional sort. And thank goodness for the digital camera, and photoshop toys on computers. You new life seems to be including an outdoor fireplace mantel thingey? Cool!

Katie it was a pleasure meeting you as well. Next year in Buffalo?

Oh Susan, you flatter me so.

Chuck I am beginning to wonder if we have lost you to twitter.

Yes Frances, the other old stove parts I had found a home under the new stairs in the narrow space between the two new walls. Then I planted the tiny sedum you gave me over a year ago that was alive in a pot full of leaves on the other side of the new stairs between the walls.

and we are glad you do! It's a joy to read your posts Christopher. Your posts give me something to think about; a different way of appreciating a flower, a stone or even plumbing. Thank you~ gail
