The garden repeats itself. Last year on this very same date the wind howled and the blue asters bloomed in profusion. Today on this very same October Bloom Day a chill wind was blowing big time and the blue asters bloomed in equal if not greater abundance. I think I will be stuck with the blue asters for the duration.
Fall and blue asters. That is what I have for Bloom Day.
And a few mums. Butter cream yellow mums.
And salmon pink Sheffie Mums in the Sheffie Mum annex.
I had vine ripened tomatoes for October Bloom Day too. Now that is different. I don't remember eating fresh tomatoes this late last year.
The roadside vegetable garden got a good cleaning this morning to get it ready for winter's rest. Mainly the dead dried sunflower stalks were cut and tossed and the winter weeds pulled. There is still plenty of food in there to harvest before it is all over, assorted greens, turnips, beets, carrots, peppers and potatoes. It was a good garden. As usual there were successes and failures. Next year without the sunflowers hogging all the resources it will be the best vegetable garden ever.
But let's go for a stroll and look at the blue asters for Bloom Day.
Blue asters line the forest path that leads to the ridge top garden.
Where I saw autumn crocus in bloom. But I didn't take a lot of pictures there. I was too busy picking up sticks from the last two days of howling winds.
Back home and in better light it is easier to see exactly how bountiful the blue asters are.
There is always the oddball aster. A pure white blue wood aster sneaks in
Another look at the Yellie Mum. It grew that big from a tiny sprig planted last fall.
October Bloom Day would not be complete without the star of the roadside bed, The Mother Sheffie Mum in all her glory.
And a gratuitous shot of fall is needed. Talk about your borrowed landscape concept.

Happy Garden Bloggers Blue, I mean BLoom Day. Fabulous fall blooms. Hang on to your hat.
It was blustery here in upstate NY too. I love your title and your photos, too. What pretty asters. Hope you had a happy GBBD.
It was a most beautiful day on the mountain once it warmed up a notch. Then the wind was tolerable.
Always a joy to visit in the mountains in autumn. Marvelous, all of it.
Gorgeous! You sure have a lot of blue asters! They look so beautiful along with the red, orange and yellow leaves of fall.
What a glorious set of photos! The "free" landscaping around the mountains can't be beat.
Oh, how I love this landscape! Glorious color, and the fall forest is spectacular, especially with all your mums. Beautiful.
Gorgeous fall colors.
It is incredible, Christopher, the beauty of it all. The mums and blue asters with the fall foliage, pure magic!
