Pond Making Tapestry Making

The overflow skimmer was reset to lower the full water level. It was harder to do than I thought. The thing was being temperamental. But it is done. I added a check valve to the sump pump discharge line to prevent back flow. That will reduce the number of times the pump will have to run.

I wasn't in the mood to start rebuilding waterfalls, so I started arranging rocks around the pond. It made the water a bit muddy. Such is the way it is in pond building.

I already want to redo the ones hiding the overflow skimmer. There are too many small rocks. I want fewer big rocks. I need to take it slow and get into the zen. I am a natural pond. Breathe. I must follow nature's design. Breathe. Go slow.

I need to go through all the rocks and get to know them a little first. Next time.

I am far more interested in working in my own garden. The low mounding tapestry of evergreen texture and color on the slope below the cozy cabin is calling me. There is only a short window of opportunity between the time the nurseries get stocked and running and when the Lush arrives.

So I keep looking and contemplating. Then I look closer and scope out where I want to plant and count how many I need. Then I look even closer to see what is coming up near where I want to plant. I planted a whole lot of things on the left side of the slope last year. The Tall Flower Meadow will be completely different this year.

I am ready to buy plants. I want them now even if I can't find the time to plant for another week or two. I have an itch, bad.

All kinds of things are waking up. This is a mystery bulb from Bulbarella. I'm thinking allium. There is some other bulb mixed in too. I'll figure out what it is eventually.

Crocus I know.

Lisa the nurseries here are open and about 25% stocked. My favorite has a whole bunch of one gallon Yucca filamentosa because I nagged them all last year. I guess I'll have to buy half a dozen tomorrow before someone else gets them.

Can't sleep. An itch here also. Too much garden stuff on my mind. Pond looking good.
