A Tranquil Afternoon

It was a tranquil afternoon at the Inn without hordes of construction worker dudes stomping all around. I was there to freshen the mulch in the more severely stomped beds before the ladies arrive on Monday.

In all that tranquil there was time to look and ponder. The Fountain garden is looking good, but there is a problem. Something is off. I feel a jarring sensation.

The paths are wrong. They are way to far off from symmetrical. I can't have that. It will annoy me to no end. It must be fixed before the flagstone with brown pea gravel path is laid.

This space is an odd shape so perfectly symmetrical is out, but it can be way better than this. So it will be.

There was another long planned reason I got to enjoy a tranquil afternoon at the Inn. I went fishing for more fancy butterfly koi and pond plants to add to Twin Falls Pond.

When I bought the first two, I asked the man, if I get two will you guarantee one is male and one is female? He kind of snarled at me. I was joking of course.

After the first two lived and looked to be doing well, I was ready to add more. Four will increase the chances of some baby making. Four is no guarantee though.

That's Ilsa and Gretchen on the left. Thor and Raul are on the right. There's always a Raul in the crowd.

It was raining when I got home. Once it stopped, I kept moving. Creation was fluffed with some new stones. The spirals now come closer to the center stone in each swirl. I have wanted to do that for years, but ran out of big stones. When I decided to annex control of the next fifteen feet below the garden I found three more stacks of big stones.

At some point in time, some person had made many small piles of large rocks in the very bottom crease of the little valley my garden sits in. I have made good use of all those rocks. I figured it was best to move the stones now before the Lush swallowed them back up again.

The unknown lily I transferred out of the deep forest into the garden is now known. This is the Speckled Wood Lily, Clintonia umbellulata.

Things have changed in the garden in the last few weeks. The time of vegetation is in full swing.

I really like the way the stones draw you into the garden. Nice that someone stacked some stones for use in the future...your future.

P.S. I see the wonky way the path around the fountain looks. Maybe a figure 8 will come of it.???

Lisa there are remnants of a barbed wire fence in the garden too. I figure this was pasture at some point and the stones were piled up to clear the pasture. I am going to unwonk the paths around the fountain. A formal looking garden needs proper symmetry.
