Bloom Day Slipped By

It's 8pm and I want to go to bed. The last week of October I decided I wasn't going to wait for a freeze anymore. No matter how green things were, gardens were going to start being put to bed for the winter. Two weeks of chopping with piles of leaves that needed moving, a barrage of broken things needing attention and I have been plain pooped out at the end of the day.

Darkness comes early and it comes in other modes. The air is choked with smoke. My eyelids droop. No words come out. Can I sleep for ten hours?

The defiant one still remains.

Bloom Day slipped by because I just didn't have the energy to make a blog post. Hamamelis virginiana, the native Witch Hazel was in full bloom for the big moon.

Today I said yes to a new client at my new higher rates, not that I have the time or the need for a new client. It's a lovely garden at 4000 feet that only needs a bit more attention to make it perfect. It has very good bone structure and no, you did not hear me say I take care of ponds. Oh dear me.

It's time for bed. I hope Bloom Day was good for all of you.

Your new client will appreciate your work. I hope you get some rest soon and the fires are put out.
