A Thick Blanket

It was snowing lightly when I woke up. That was a good sign. Off to an early start.

Despite repeated slaps of cold and snow, the moment the sun came out, what little accumulation there was kept melting away.

Mega cold was on the way and the garden could surely use some snowy insulation.

In last year's snowless Polar Vortexes a number of plants were killed dead or severely damaged. There was no need for a repeat of that.

So I was most happy to see a light snow turn heavy and begin to pile up as a prelude to the mega cold. Make it a thick blanket, please.

It kept snowing, light then heavy, back and forth. It was getting thicker. I'll still take more please.

Well this is adequate if not overly generous. It should work well enough for the mega cold.

Halfway through the day the wind picked up and the temperature quickly shrank. Why must these deep cold arctic blasts always arrive with such enthusiasm?

At least it was still snowing and my blanket of insulation was getting thicker.

It is already down to 6. I suspect it will go negative. How low is the question. With the wind chill it is deadly.

Thank you at least for the nice blanket of snow.

Snow does help. A main reason we have so much going on here.
