As The Meadow Turns

The change is slow, very slow. Tiny bits of color are being added at a glacial pace.

I should of course stay in the moment and enjoy this slow lingering titillation. But the anticipation is killing me. I wait all year for this show. I want it now.

What I want and what the meadow does are never quite the same thing though. I will wait impatiently.

The goldenrods; three species, boneset and white snakeroot are opening now. There is some ironweed. Several species of aster will follow.

A big sack of liatris was planted today. That will be in next year's show.

As the meadow turns, I watch and wait.
