Never The Same

And the same as it ever was.

The big loss in this Year of Ugly Leaves was most of the big bold foliage. That includes all the ferns which were definitely mangled. Aralia cordata 'Sun King' was about the only big foliage that made it through the hail.

The wildflower meadow grew on. The height it achieved this year was reduced.

No problem. It has stood upright this year better than most and is still head high in places.

It grows and changes and reacts to the evolving conditions in many different ways.

And grows on.

This weekend there will be lots of path mowing. The paths have been growing. Weathers depending, it could be the last mowing of the season. But every bit of it needs mowing. In a garden for one it is easy to let things go unmowed.

The blue asters draw near.

The maintenance gardener will enjoy some tidy for the final big show of the year.

One of the many pleasures of the garden is how it changes through out the year(s). You never tire of it which is why we continue to tend them. The lure of the unknown, also the surprises.
