I took a few pictures of the gardens at the Inn at Tranquility Farm this week. Might as well share them. This is the kitchen garden. It's off the kitchen, not edible.
Don't ask me how this color Hydrangea macrophylla has occurred. No doubt it has something to do with the particular cultivar I grabbed at the nursery that day. Could be a tag for it around here some where.
The first slope next to the Almighty Falls that was planted in late 2017 is nearing the completely filled in stage. The Staghorn Sumac is beginning to sucker and send up new stems which I am happy to see. That will help it fill in and make for plenty babies that can fall out of the ground. It just needs to do some awesome fall color for complete satisfaction.
The lowest tier and biggest piece of ground to cover has been growing quite well too. There is just one problem. The Hydrangea arborescens 'Wee White' would be twice this size if the damn varmints would stop eating them. There is so much cayenne pepper in this ground now I don't know how they can stand it. The varmints just love their nativar hydrangea. It's making me crazy.
The summer is coming to a close and the gardens have been mostly unseen this year because the pandemic. There have been maybe three small events with strict protocol at best. It is a beautiful garden for the help ...... and the varmints.
One of the Hydrangea paniculata cultivars.
