Uncle Ernie Gets Festive

With dangling balls....

12-17-08
At times I am easily persuadable. Besides it is misty and rainy and I can't prime before painting the porch roof's infrastructure or start the siding on a wet cabin.

Uncle Ernie gets a hair weave.

With some subtle berry antlers.

Hahahaa! However he needs a santa claus hat or something!
ps question about the hellebore seedlings you potted up - can one just let them grow up where they fall around the parent plant, or should I pot them and move them? I have been debating over this.

Maybe I could get a tiny santa hat for one of his strands of hair.

The Hellebore question might be better suited to Frances. I'm still learning. My intial thoughts would be that since one Helleborus can get so big it would be best to get the babies out from under them at least, particularly if you want to expand the bed of them.

I potted them up because Frances gave them to me bare root essentialy and they were so small I felt they would get lost and disappear in a forest full of competition. I just wanted to grow them to a larger size before planting them out.

OMW, Uncle Ernie does look festive. Yes, a hat would be appropriate for this time of the season.
Christopher you are too funny. I love it. It feels good to smile.

Hi Christopher, Uncle Ernie is the party animal, but I agree with a hat, or a wreath hanging somewhere on him. Someday maybe lights!

To Bev, if you want a sea of hellebores, move them to their final reesting place, giving plenty of room for their mature size. They are tough as nails and can be moved easily in the winter, really better than during the warm months for the soil is nice and cool and moist now. I have way more than could ever be used and just leave them under the mother plants, but they will not be able to grow well under that heavy leaf cover of the mother. Good luck with them!

Hi Christopher...Merry Christmas to you and Uncle Ernie! Looks like you are ready for the season. :) Too cute, and a hat or wreath would just add to the cuteness. Just think, next year you can decorate the cozy cabin and Uncle Ernie.

Ha, the hairpiece is even better than a hat!! How imaginative! And Frances thanks for the hellebore advice; i do need more but was afraid to move them.

OMG, now he does look dapper. He's really coming into his own. A traffic stopper.
No, wet surface does not make for good primer application. Maybe in a couple days.

HA, Uncle Ernie's head was getting cold, now he looks just right! Glad you are so easy to persuade. :-)

You are very welcome, Bev.

Hope you are able to work on the cabin soon.
