Your Joe Pye looks brighter than that I see on the roadside; just saw some today. Is this an artifact of the photos or should you be taking your variety to a nursery for propagation? (:
Bev this Joe Pye is pretty dark pink. It was a selected variety and bought at a nursery at some point. It came to me a a division. The bulk of it is now self sown. Flower age, natural lighting and some fine tuning of the photo can all enhance the color. Most of the wild Joe Pye along the roads here is pretty dark. We have some very pale pink and near white ones in the sunny utility meadow and the ridge top garden.

Wish I had a meadow that looked that pretty.
