Greetings Christopher: I can see your mountain top garden paradise is blooming like crazy. I do like the color of the first Rhododendron. Red, fuchsia? Not sure as monitors can alter colors. While at the beach recently, my DH and I visited the Norfolk Botanical Gardens. Many hours of enjoyment were spent walking the gardens. My favorite areas are the conifer section and the Japanese garden. It was a little dry; one of the gardeners said they were praying for rain this coming weekend. Me too! Wishing you a happy Memorial weekend. Warm regards, Gypsy
Gypsy that first rhododendron is definitely in the red range. I'd go with magenta. The Director of Horticulture at the Norfolk BG, Les Parks, is a Facebook friend from way back when garden blogging first got started.
Christopher: If you get a chance, tell Mr. Parks that his botanical garden is the reason why we go to Virginia Beach every year. His gardens are beautifully maintained, the grounds keepers always willing to answer questions and I especially like the addition of the potager. Flowers feed the soul but vegetables feed the tummy. If we can educate more people to raise their own vegetables, all the better. You can't beat a home grown tomato. Gypsy
