Forced To Look

The monsoon is not conducive to evening strolls. Even if it isn't raining, the chest high, water heavy wildflowers make for a very moist walk about. So guess what, you get to look at insulation. Despite weather that is perfect for napping like Rip Van Winkle I have managed to stay busy and keep plugging away.

Inside the cozy cabin it is almost looking like there are actual walls.

So close. I need two more batts of the R-38 insulation for the living room roof. The hard part is going to be trying to buy just two when it comes in bales of eight.

Next comes the insulation in the floor. Extra framing is in place to make sure the sewer and water lines get a good heat holding blanket to keep the contents inside in liquid form on those days when it gets to -4 or some such horrendous winter digit.

But it was about to start raining again and I was not going to start dragging insulation down below the house to get that project started.

I added the first few posts to the service entrance landing instead. Then it poured. Again.

You have been so good about looking at insulation that I have a nice forest edge scene to gaze upon.

Two blue asters, the New England Aster and the Blue Wood Aster bloom in the sunny utility meadow while the maples begin to turn.

Progress continues and you are cozying up the cottage...it will be toasty warm before long. I did hear that sun was returning to TN so it will cross the mountains and be at your place next week! The clouds and mountain views from your last post were breathtakingly beautiful. gail

Never tire of your adventures whether in the flowers/veggies & now the finishing necessities for the Cozy Cabin. Carry on & keep us informed with each project. Enjoy it very much.
Last pic is to die for.

Thank you Oh Benevolent One for giving us this gift of a scenic forest. It is fun to watch the Cozy Cabin forming. The insulation seems to be going up likity split so I guess a monsoon wasn't so bad. When do we start the drywall? When is the furnace installed? When do we hook up the water?

Good for you for being a self-starter. You'd never have made it this far if you weren't!
Well, gardeners like rain but construction guys don't. Guess you are stuck in the middle.

Gail I am so looking forward to a week of sunshine. At least I have a view when I am cooped up inside.

Things are moving along Lola. I'll be doing drywall soon.

Lisa, the furnace and water will be the last things. Them govmint people don't want anyone living in there until they say so.

True Bev. The gardener in me is happy I don't have to water any recent plantings. The painter in me wants this monsoon to stop already.

Looking good! Reminds me of the days when I dad, a home builder, whould pay us $5 / house to clean up his job sites (and for the company, while we moaned and groaned--but to be fair, one winter we had to spread hay inteh basement to keep th dirt from freezing, and I had hay dust in my nose for a week).
