It was 35 degrees when I woke up and 35 degrees when I came home. A good half of what was falling from the low grey clouds when I went on a stroll was a little too white and too firm to be considered rain. There is no mention of snow in the diagnosis, but I see spots on the radar in the direction of the origin of snow. It will not be the least bit surprising to wake up to snow on the ground in the morning.
Anything adapted to bloom at this time of year is adapted to such vagaries of weathers, otherwise they would be extinct.
I put my long underwear back on and the kitties have curtailed their outside time. Let me back in. It's too cold.
The daffodils dill on in defiance.
The diagnosed low for the morning is 27. A freeze warning has been issued.
"A FREEZE WARNING MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE IMMINENT OR HIGHLY LIKELY. THESE CONDITIONS WILL KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION. TAKE STEPS TODAY TO PROTECT YOUR PLANTS."
Not gonna happen. Not here. Not with this many acres and this many plants.
The lovely Magnolia soulangeana blooms some years and some years it is zapped.
It has even been zapped completely back to the ground and was cut down only to grow back from the stump.
Anything adapted to live up here is adapted to such vagaries of weathers, otherwise they would be extinct. Good luck magnolia.
The sub freezing cold will be of brief duration. If the wind stops it may not even freeze up top. When that happens all the cold air sinks to the bottom and it is warmer up here than in the valleys below.
This little bit of freezing cold is barely worth mentioning, except that I was getting quite used to being warm and long underwear free.

Sending warm thoughts your way! Hope it doesn't get as cold as forecasted and that all your beautiful flowers survive the cold zap.
Hopefully it won't get that cold & the long johns can stay off. The pretties will be safe too.
So tired, ggs helped a lot today doing things I just don't have time or energy to do. He even used the weed eater, not bad for a 9 yr. old. That's my boy.
Forgot to tell you I have an iris about to open. There are 2 buds & it's a rust/yellow/gold kinda color.
Will try to get a pic of it.
The same thing is happening here. We were quite spoiled with that wonderfully warm dry air.
Siria 29 was the low with a dusting of snow.
Lola sounds like you have been busy. We are still a bit away from iris.
Lisa the sad part is you can get spoiled every single spring it does this with no memory of how it can really be from past experience.
