A Belated Buffalo Bloom Day

In the big city they have tiny yards and a big speedy internet. In the wilderness I have large acreage and a small, annoying, pitiful excuse of internet service with Hughes satellite. It's tough seeing how the big city folks internet is and coming back to this.

I forge ahead anyway because Buffalo blooms for Garden Bloggers Bloom Day. This is the Cottage District's Little Summer Street, one of the featured neighborhoods in the upcoming Buffalo Garden Walk.

Bad blogger does not take notes and can't tell you the garden owners names. Suffice it to say that all of these gardens had very small front yards and slightly bigger back yards that were astounding in their complexity and fullness.

Were does one get a gnome with that sort of expression?

A Gothic looking tower loomed over this garden. Perhaps the gnome is guarding some secret.

Art and sculpture flourished in these gardens.

And they were not the least bit shy about the use of strong bold colors.

It looks so good. Why do I have so much fear and hesitation about letting loose with the color?

It's just so fun. You might notice my mind was a bit distracted by all this color and the gardens may not have gotten the full attention they deserved.

This I understand. Complete wild abandon and exuberance in a flower bed. It was one of the few examples of wild abandon in gardens that were mostly meticulously tended.

The bright orange house had front plantings that coordinated. Mercy, that might cause my head to explode in major color paralysis.

This completely full bed of Monarda had me wondering if our common red Monarda is a bit of a wanderer. It is never this tightly packed.

One day the basement patio will be this cozy. I do have my red columns.

Hydrangeas of all kinds were well represented.

Simplicity stood out in the floral extravaganza that Little Summer Street was chock full of.

One intense short block of houses in the 300 plus that are on Garden Walk Buffalo.

It was pretty wow. But most of you folks are gardeners and there is always room for more, so be sure to visit Bloom Day headquarters in the fine city of Indianapolis for your key to wander the blooming world.

You were distracted by the colors, weren't you. It was very impressive and very much in bloom.

Sometimes as an artist you have a color block. Getting out of your normal routine is a great way to get the creative juices flowing. I hope you are able to come to some conclusion about your color choices after seeing all this inspiration.

Oh, I love the pink house in the first photo so much. It makes me want to rip out my front lawn and plant away. Although I'm afraid of having even MORE weeding to fall behind on.
