Fred's Disarray

I heard him last night, a lone baying hound and didn't think much of it even though he sounded near by. This morning he saw me headed next door for some siding time from where he was parked at the turnout along the scenic highway. I had help siding today and have the muddy paw prints fifteen feet off the ground to prove it. My what big feet you have and you are bouncing up and down the muddy hillside tapestry of newly planted flowers in the sunny utility valley. Oh pee on the sedum why don't you. Twice is even better.

I tried to sneak back to the resident gardeners house without him because the Spots were put out to enjoy the warm sunny day when I left. I could not fool him and chaos ensued when Fred and I arrived.

I called the humane society at 3:30 in the afternoon and they said they would come get him today and would I please time him up. At 5:45 I gave up and went to town for a bit of dog food thinking Fred may be with me for the weekend and he eats way too much cat food, or should I say inhales cat food.

I had managed to get the Spots in once Fred was tied up. Now how was I going to get them out for their nightly constitutional before bedtime?

At 7:45 there was a knock on the door and low and behold the animal control guy was here to pick up Fred. I was shocked. He said they work 24/7. Who knew?

I think I am located in a prime dumping ground for unwanted pets. It is bound to get worse as the economy crumbles. At least now I have some dog food on hand.

Still, What Is Wrong With You People?!!!!!!

Apparently they have no regard for life whether it be animal or human. It's a shame that there are people out there that do these awful things.
I'm glad the pound came for Fred so quickly. Maybe he will find a good home.

I clicked on this post and thought what is Loretta doing on your blog. The resemblence is uncanny. I sure hope Fred finds a good home, and I hope there is a special place in hell for people who abandon animals.

You and your property must have a friendly aura. The animals just know they will be taken care of there. It is a crying shame that people dump their animals. Fred looks so sad.

Les, Loretta and Fred for sure must be kin.

I would have thought he might have just been a lost hunting dog, but I had not heard any in the last few days and they hunt in packs. I did hear a car pull away from the turnout and Fred shortly there after.

Oh, that makes me so mad! Poor sweet Fred ... may he find someone who loves and appreciates him for the fine boy he is.

Wow, and he looks skinny too. His resemblance to Loretta confirms my thought of a coon hound. They are not the best pets - but for God's sake someone could take him to a shelter instead of dumping him! Bless you Christopher for being a kind person. Even though it is sure to get you in more trouble..... (:

Hi Christopher! You are a good person to make sure these poor animals are taken care of. I have a feeling that dog food you bought won't go to waste. Poor Fred...he looks so sad, lonely and skinny. I sure hope he finds a loving home to go to.

And a hound dog howdy to Fred. He looks like a real hunting hound dog, usually they are prized not dropped off. Could he be a runaway? Hope he is reunited with his owners. And no one drops any more animals off the side of a steep mountainside. The siding, footprints and all is looking great.

How weird to dump a pet in the wilderness when you could just call the pick-up service!

Kudos for being kind to The Hound! P.S. Don't let the next one eat cat food, it's not good for dogs.

This is so sad. I too am in a semi-rural area where people seem to say to themselves, "Look! A neighborhood. In the middle of nowhere! I'll drop my cat/dog/bunny/pet peacock here because I've lost my home/can't afford Fido/Fluffy anymore. Hopefully these people can do something more!" It's very frustrating and sad. We try to do the best we can. At least all the cats are keeping down the mice and rat population. The dogs? Have CHIPS! But no one will claim them/call back. It's very, very disheartening. People! There are other solutions! Be responsible for the life in your hands...
