Two freakishly warm days in a row have caused a flurry of growth. Out of no where, swollen buds have appeared on some daffodils. Or maybe I have been preoccupied with things like siding, the disruption of Fred, cleaning, the arrival of Bulbarella and the Building Contractor, much of which has sent the Spots into a complete dither and had the spotlets running for their hidden burrow, poor things.
Bulbarella has come to unbury her emerging bulbs from the leaf litter and to fertilize every last one she can find. Last count before the big snow there were 265 clumps. With these two freakishly warm days in a row there is bound to be upwards of 400 clumps of daffodils showing by now.
Boom. The striped lavender crocus have buds.
Where did these come from?
Boom. The purple crocus are blooming.
A different mood is in the air.
For now the race for spring is on. I know better though. Winter is not really over. It won't truly be safe until the tomatoes and corn can be planted in mid May.

WOW! Those bulbs are just beautiful! Enjoy the show for the next month or so. I hope rain and warm weather keep coming your way.
It does some fast right now. Some years I wait until almost Memorial Day to plant tomatoes, "just in case".

WOW, what fantastic pix. Seems as though Mother Nature is in high speed.
My DH always said it could freeze till Easter. And the cold weather wasn't over till the pacan trees budded out. I haven't seen any buds on the yet.
Glad all is clean. Poor Spots.
Do enjoy your time together.
What does Bulbarella fertilize with?
Siria, rain and warmish weather should be more frequent now, but there is possible snow for next weekend.
Carol, I learned that last year when there was death in the vegetable garden from hypothermia.
Lola we are a long ways from the trees leafing out, though I did see a maple that is considering blooming.
Chuck, Bulbarella uses Holland Bulb Booster a 9-9-6 labeled as being formulated by Holland's best bulb growers. Now if they only sold that in 50lb bags.
Now I understand how Bulbarella came to be called that. Holy moly!
Those crocus ... OH, to be able to grow those deep purple crocus! Enjoy them extra on my behalf, please?
A big hi to Bulbarella and The Contractor! I know they will be so pleased with all the flowers and the progress on the cozy cabin too. I do hope the Spots settle back down to indoordom sometime soon. Good job with the clean up. We have some gorillas made of cat hair and dust in some corners with no incentive to do more than look at them as we go about our business. So happy for those errant bulbs along your driveway. There seem to be a lot of *I don't remember planting those* here too. A nice surprise.
