Before A Patchy Frost

Who knows how low it will go. The diagnosis is calling for frost. The temperature has been holding steady at 48 degrees for hours despite a steady onslaught of winds from the north. This is not the kind of behavior that says frost to me.

There is frost and there is a killing frost. I don't think we are in the kill zone yet. My roadside weeds will continue to bloom. They are a hardy bunch. I am even getting a small re-bloom on the chicory.

Things are still weed high to the porch roof in places, but the process of a tall flower meadow being laid low has already begun. Between heavy blooms and heavy rains many things have fallen and can't get back up. It is the nature of the beast that I must learn to work with.

As the wild falls down all the baby shrubberies hidden for so long have begun to rise up. A new garden will emerge from the chaos for the winter.

I love that lst pic. It is gorgeous. It's cooled down here a bit, mostly at night. I'm looking forward to the cooler temps.
It's a bit early for a killing frost there isn't it?

I have been told Oct. 15th is our average first frost date, so we are in the zone.

It's cooler here as well, but being in the deep south I imagine we will have some more high 80's and even 90's.

I wish you had said Chicory seeds two months ago when I cut them down. I'll see what I can do.

Me too, Chicory seeds, please. So pretty. If possible.

OK Lola. I can check the stems from where I tossed them and I know a place along the road where they don't get mowed.
