Winter Enters

With a big dollop. I'd say we are closer to eight inches than six and the snow is still falling.

It must be snowing over a wider area than just the high elevations. When the scenic byway's snow plow doesn't come by several times a day that means he's busy.

That doesn't keep a number of fools off the road. Last night I even got a knock on the door, "May I borrow your phone. My four wheel drive won't engage." There is another fool stuck up there right now. They at least had the good fortune that a tow truck was right behind them.

There was so much snow on the scenic byway, a road grader was sent up the mountain at noon in front of the snow plow. Winter has entered with a big dollop.

Some where out there in a blizzard is one neurotic cat. Miss Collar has confinement issues. She is afraid of feeling trapped inside. It has not helped that strangers have been by two days in a row. Her confinement issues are exasperated by strangers. She knows how to hide in culverts at least. Her favorite culvert is close to the house under the driveway next door. She'll be fine. The snow is way too deep for her to come home.

I ain't shovelin' no driveways. She will just have to wait until it melts. I suspect she will be able to get out for church on Sunday. I parked my truck at the top of my driveway. I ain't shovelin' no driveways this winter.

Everybody drives slow on a snow covered scenic byway and peers down at a cozy cabin high on the low spot. They may think I am nuts living way up here.

I wave to fools passing slowly by and head back to a cozy little cabin where I am comfy as can be in the first big dollop of winter.

All that white stuff sure is pretty but can cause a lot of trouble. I do hope Miss Collar will be alright. How are the new kitties doing with this white stuff?
Don't blame you for not shoveln' no driveways.
Is that one pic of the big rock?

Lola I just got word Miss Collar is indeed next door right where I thought. Mom is trying to coax her in with food. She'll be fine in the culvert over night if she won't come in. It should be plenty warm under a blanket of snow and buried in the ground. The baby kitties are staying inside. The snow and cold has not been to their liking. Yes that is the big rock on the stream.

I can't believe how much snow you have gotten! It sure is beautiful! I am assuming you power is holding on. I have heard of quite a few without power. Sure hope Collar decides to cime inside where she can stay cozy and warm.

Siria you left in the nick of time. This is a lot for the first snow. Thank goodness the power is still on. I was looking at generators a couple weeks ago so I could keep my heat and water on just in case. They are expensive, loud and a PIA, but I may have to break down and get one. Hopefully Miss Collar will learn her lesson tonight. Mom says thanks for the pumpkin bread. Very tasty.

Pretty snow, cold icicles. Glad to read Miss Collar is alright. Bad storm.

Janet this was a big one. I hope it isn't an omen of the entire winter.

"Better you than me"... I'm not ready for snow. We are going quite a bit of rain and it is windy as all get out, but no snow, thankfully.

We lucked out. We got about and inch, maybe 2, but it had melted by night. We are supposed to get more, but the temp is 37, but windy. We have some up on the mountain. I may go take a peek on the Gator...if the sun comes out tomorrow. If it's alright with you, we will just send it all on the NC side of the mountains. :-)

Carol it just doesn't seem fair. I am in the South by gum. Even Dianne further north, on the other side of the mountain is snow free while I aim for a foot of snow. It's still coming down.

Just noticed what looks like small red flags or something. Are they flags to mark the edge of the road & maybe the center of the drive?

Lola I think you are just seeing fallen leaves on top of the snow.

Winter didn't waste any time coming in this year. Of course she was escorted in by Sandy.

The parsnips will be much sweeter. You can keep that white stuff. I am not ready.

It's too early for such scenes, and too early to suffer fools driving in snow for no good reason.

I had thought about leaves on top of the snow also. Old eyes don't see too well even with help. lol

Hi Christopher! I am just catching up from the past few days...we sure did leave at the right time! Up in our neck of the woods, we don't have the luxury of the snow plow clearing our roads and sometimes it takes days to get them cleared. If we lived there all the time, we woould definitely get a generator, however, they are a big PIA indeed. We got one for FL the last time a big hurricane came through 7 years ago and we lost power that time for 18 days. We haven't needed it since! :-)
Glad your Mom liked the bread. I hope she enjoyed the snowfall!

Better snow than big waves, eh? I'm jealous, and I hope that Minnesota gives me snow this winter. I missed it last year....nice to enjoy yours.
