Almost

There have been some modifications in the mini-loft library. Unable to ever settle on a bean bag chair, a flip chair was bought instead. This chair opens to go completely flat for a bed and has several reclining positions as the back rest lowers. It is most comfy.

A special order staircase newel was bought so it could be cut in two and it replaced the skinny entry posts that seemed out of scale and annoyed me. I like the fat posts better.

I almost had it finished, but as you can tell from the sagging horizontal wire railing, something is amiss. I have been stymied in my efforts to find a suitable way to fasten the newel posts to the floor. They do of course make a kit for that. Unfortunately I got a 3 1/2 inch newel and all the kits on the store shelves were for 3 inch newels. Plan C is now in the works. Plans A and B have already failed.

I am really really close now to having the mini-loft library completely done. As in Next! I may even break out my hand made especially for me Hawaiian quilt to go in the library.

It is snowing again and starting to stick. There is more snow in the diagnosis for Friday night into Saturday. If I can find what I need tomorrow to fasten my posts to the floor, I will be all ready to spend one of the remaining cold and snowy days of the winter all comfy and warm in the new library.

My indoor projects will be completed and it will be time to deal with the bats roosting under the eaves and pooping all down the side of the house. Can't have that for another year. The built in bat houses under my eaves were so nice the colony kept getting bigger.

The library looks welcoming with that nice lounge chair/sofa there. The newel posts look better too. Good pick. Poor bats. They have such a difficult time finding nice homes.

Your "reading" room looks marvelous. Now for some serious reading what with the outside being cold/snowy.

Lisa I have thought of putting "build a bat house" on my list. I found instructions online. Then I could find a nice tree to attached it to. I'm not exactly sure when they come back in the spring. I never paid attention.

Lola we have a cold snowy weekend coming up.

Love your library! It is really looking great. Luckily, we did not get snow here and they pulled it out of our Saturday forecast. Yeeha! When you get the bat problem, let me know. I have them here. I have pretty much solved them getting into the house. I felt a little better about it when I saw a Stephen King interview and they get them in their house in Main. I get them out by cutting off all the lights in the house and opening all the doors I can to the outside. They eventually get out. I have had to catch one. I went to the internet to find out how, without touching them. File this under things I have learned by living in the mountains.

I also figured that if I put a bat house out, I will have a colony in the bat house and another under my eaves. They do not like water, so you can spray them. I just don't want to hurt them.

Dianne I have not had them in the house though my mom has had them inside on occasion. If they didn't poop and pee in a long streak down the side of the cabin I'd leave them alone. I just plan to put some hard wire at the bottom of the vent holes.

When I built the cabin, the hard wire and screen went at the top of the vent holes and the wire obviously makes and nice thing for them to wrap their little claws around. The vent holes themselves are perfect bat sized openings with the perfect floor for them.

I want to see the quilt also. I'll bet it's gorgeous.
