Entering The Goth Period

The blue asters are a sign.

The end draws near.

It is the time of asters and mums. It is time for the forest to turn.

Waves of blue completely change the mood of the wild cultivated gardens.

It is the beginning of the Goth Period.

Joe Pye fades as brown leaves fall to crunch underfoot.

The lower light and changing colors turn the garden moody.

I went looking for the Under Garden today. How did it fare beneath the Tall Flower Meadow this year? It was looking good. Some clearing was done to allow those plants the last bits of growing kind sun of the year.

Green will fade away as the russet tones take hold.

How long it will last is a matter of killing frosts. Now in October, that could happen anytime. A cold prelude just arrived.

It is time for the Goth Period. The winter Under Garden, a tapestry of evergreen color and texture comes next.

Goth Period. I like that analogy.
