A Trip Through The Under Garden

You're on your own. Click on a picture for a slide show.

'Jelena' is in the house.

Snow drops have commenced.

It is near time to start the big chop and drop. Two more acres in that direction.

I can tell you have rested enough. Get going...

What's that deeply saturated blue-green juniper (?) on the hillside below your house? And the striped yellow-green spiky plant? I think I have one of those but can't remember the name. Its foliage is bent just like yours now.

This is inspiring me to get out and do some clearing this weekend, if it will stay dry.

I suppose I am rested now Lisa. The days are getting longer which helps. I may do some chop and drop this weekend.

CC that is Blue Star juniper. The spiky yellow is Yucca filamentosa 'Color Guard'. I also have Yucca 'Bright Edge'. It seems to stay stiffer and not quite so floppy in the winter. Doing the chop and drop early in the Under Garden shows it off best for the full season.

Thanks! I Googled that juniper and read that it needs full sun. Too bad for me. Love the yuccas. Don't recall which variety mine is. I still have it in the original pot from last summer and am hoping it will survive our <10 deg temps this winter.
