The Snowdrops Were Still There

The temperature rose and stayed above freezing. The sun came out for another day. A melt began in earnest. 'Diane' was ready for business.

'Diane' and 'Jelena' together. They are much more impressive from the front porch when the sunlight hits them in the morning. They glow.

This is mud season. The top layer melting on frozen ground. Slop is the operative word.

And the snowdrops were still there.

They have been multiplying and self sowing in quantity.

One day soon the heiau will be awash in a drift of snowdrops.

'Jelena' was in full petal unfurl.

See the bug?

'Arnold' peeks out. It's time.

Time for me to get up and get moving. The chop and drop needs doing before the bulbs arrive. It just needs to dry out and stop raining.

Hi Christopher: Is your Arnold, Arnold Promise? It says it has a fragrance. If that is what you have, what does it smell like? Today has been rain, rain, rain. The ground is really soggy so no walking around my property. I'll stay inside my nice comfy log home with a fire going in the fireplace. Stay dry. Gypsy

Yes 'Arnold's Promise'. The witch hazels are stingy with the fragrance. Conditions have to be just right for them to perfume. It is a sweet scent. I would have to smell it again to add flavors.

Lisa some twist in the vortex has put me on the warm side of things. There is a lot of cold rain ahead with maybe a dash of warm snow.
