Up
And on the property below the cozy cabin. That is were I found Crawford this morning when I followed the pitiful cries. He won't come down and this afternoon I had to shoo the ravens away that had discovered him.
My nerves are shot from all this disarray.
Crawford should have a nice sunset view and tonight's full moon should be stunning from his lofty perch. Minervas.
Rescue Update: Wednesday 4:50 pm. One nice tree trimmer with spikes, belt and rope, five minutes and a wailing Crawford was lowered to the forest floor in a pillow case and my waiting arms just as it really stated to rain. He quieted down the second he was in my arms. $40. Close enough to priceless. I feel better now. Crawford seems unfazed.

Yipes! Hope to hear good news tomorrow!

Is there anyway you could put a ladder close to him? He might fel more comfortable about climbing down with more to hold on to. I feel for you. :)
I hope the cat comes down. I'm thankful my cat has never tried this time Honored tradition cats seem to have.
OMG, Christopher, I hope Crawford will be ok. That is a long way up. Something must have frightened him to make him go that far up.
I know you are all jittery. It can be nerve wracking.
Fucking hell.
OH MY Gosh. Poor Crawford. What a situation he has gotten his self into. Now that is way up there. I bet he doesn't do that again. I hope a great horned owl doesn't find him in the moonlight. This seems to be a right of passage for some cats. Luckily we humans don't usually have to observe our precious pets doing such a stunt. He will be ok. Go sit on the front porch and have a beverage to relax. This is the way all teenagers do their parents. They test their nerves in some way. I always found that the coldest beverage took the edge off best. Excuse me I was about to digress.
Still no Crawford back at home this morning. I'll try and coax him down one more time. Then it will be time to try and find a nice tree trimmer with climbing gear.
Try taking some smelly food to the bottom of the tree...he should be hungry now. Tuna would work, but heat it first so that it's smellier. Freshly fried bacon would be great, too. If no response, put a ladder by the tree (if possible) and take the food up to to help the smell get to him. Good luck...it's always scary to see them up there!
4:02 pm A thunderstorm approaches with light rain so far. The tree trimmer is on his way now and should be here shortly. Crawford has descended 10 feet to a lower smaller dead branch.
How upsetting for you both! So glad he was rescued and hope he remember the fright. Our cats used to climb up too high and had to be coaxed down with lots of soothing sweet talk by our kids. This was not with a thunderstorm coming though. You did the right thing, as you already know. Chuck is so funny.

I'm so glad you were able to get him down. Bet he sleeps good tonight, and you too.
Okay: Why I Keep My Cats Indoors, Exhibit A.
$40 seems like a bargain, all things considered.
Chuck I read Born Free by Joy Adamson as a young lad and it had a major impact on me.
I bet after Miss Penny's surgery bill you would think $40 was a bargain. Actually I do too.
Oh, poor kitty! Poor you!! Glad he's down and safe and sound.
Lucky cat, does that count as one of his lives! gail
Diane, I was so relieved it was a physical sensation that washed over me.
Gail I do believe this episode certainly qualifies as one life.
OMG...I am so glad that Crawford is OK! I'm out of town and just found a computer I can use in the lobby of my hotel. I thought I would catch up on what I have missed these last few days. It never ceases to amaze me how much "action" happens on your mountaintop!
Just another day on the mountain Siria. There is plenty I don't even mention. Let's just say I am getting to know the neighbors.
