Half A Foot Plus

Good thing it snowed heavy all day. It made house cleaning hard to avoid. I made progress against the filth and only have one more room to go. It is slow going when all the nooks and crannies are attended to. That is where the hairballs hide and the spiders live.

The snowdrops and few daffodils I saw peaking out of the ground are buried once more.

I have a feeling spring really will be a bit later this year.

The constant snow pack has slowed the bulb's emergence.

Meltage has to start over from scratch and it didn't get that far before another half a foot plus was added on top.

A late afternoon stroll as the snow began to ebb and a cleaning break seemed like a good idea.

It was a blowing snow.

It blows right under the cozy cabin when it blows.

Will this be my last winter storm of the season?

I hope it gets it all out of its system before I get back. I will accept more snow if it promises to all melt within two days of falling. Deal?

I was pleased to find that the blog function with the Picasa photo editor was working today.

Is it just me or has anyone else noticed that Google search has been failing to connect rather frequently of late. I am wondering if they have gotten so big with so many applications that they are losing control of their product.

It is just another one of those systems not operating smoothly. It is nice there are things in life that can be counted on to remain predictable.

That red on the columns is going to look really great in future winters.
Talk about winter interest!

The cheerful kitty chimes unwind a lot of sympathetic angst I, as a reader, might feel for you about the snow.

Cleaning I agree does take considerable time when done complete. I'm sure it will be to the Resident Gardeners liking.
I like the chimes. Rather cute.
I enjoyed the stroll with you. A favorite of mine for some reason.
My goodness, this blowing snow is not good on the patio. Will you figure a way to halt it or will you just let it be natural in the future. {Here's hoping there will NOT be another winter like this one}.
I managed to get my canna bed fixed by adding some top soil & black cow to it. Hopefully it will help it. Now if only I can get a few more things done.

Do you think we need to cry 'Uncle!" louder for Mother nature and Father Winter to leave us alone!

Love your photos and the winter sky with hints of blue is lovely.

You have my sympathy, I know how it feels to watch the snowdrops disappear under yet another blanket of snow. But meteorological spring begins in just a couple of days, and the stronger sunlight is making a big difference. Hang in there, we're almost through.

Hi Christopher! So glad your unpleasant task of cleaning is behind you. Your pictures are incredible as always, and I noticed in the one of your back porch that the ceiling of the porch roof is painted the red of the columns. Did I miss this in a previous post or is this something new that you had not posted about? I love it! It is really striking. I recall you were painting your front door a blue color, is that still your plan and are you planning on painting the back door too?

Have a great weekend and a nice visit with the Resident Gardner's prior to your wonderful vacation getaway!

Sallysmom that red is a keeper for sure and makes a big bold statement to winter rubberneckers.

Chuck I agree with you about the effect of the cheerful kitty.

Lola when the snow blows under the cabin that is just how it will have to be. I have no intent to close it in. Good work on the canna bed. I might have to see if they would be root hardy here.

Gail, UNCLE!! It better be gone when I get back.

MMGD the sun has moved quite a bit and the days are already about an hour longer which is nice. Soon.

Siria both the front and back porch rafters are painted the red color with the white underside of the metal roof showing through the framing. Both front and back doors will be the Waterloo Blue. I will need to find a Haint Blue to work with all of it.

Wow - what a winter you've been through! (no problems here with Google...). Tomorrow is my 'Airstream cleaning day' - it's tiny, it shouldn't be a big deal, but somehow it morphs into 'a day'. Don't know how that happens!
