Two Gardens In Spring

In my travels and in my work I get to see gardens with a few years behind them.

They are often filled with ideas and often enough so well filled with plants they can fall out of the ground and end up coming home with me. The native Bluebells, Mertensia virginica are on my wish list. I certainly have the right conditions for them.

My own garden is still in its infancy. Much of its bottle structure that will give the space form is still under construction. One section, the shores of Turd Blossom Lake, are now complete. The bed behind it waits for more soil to thicken the blanket of insulation over the sewer line. Once that is done and a layer of wood chip mulch is applied on top, it will be time to plant.

Today some volunteer viburnum and deutzia will be dug from the ridge top garden and moved down to the garden to be. Deciduous and evergreen shrubs will also add bone structure and form to the garden to be.

These shrubs will find homes far from the lake shore. There is time yet to contemplate what will fill this particular new bed.

I agree ...., except is already does look so good! Where is that lovely garden? It looks like it is on a lake.

Glad you got enough bottles to finish this project. Do you plan another when you get the other side of entry done?
It all looks so good.

Sallysmom I am liking it. A small weeping Japanese Maple just may have to live in this bed. Its roots can't possibly hurt a 4" Schd 40 PVC pipe.

Siria that garden is in Laurel Ridge on the golf course, a large pond is in the view.

Lola I may have enough bottles now to finish the bed beside the cabin. I need more though since I intend to bottle edge the left front bed down to where it will meet the path going up and down from the basement patio.

Too bad you live so far away. I have a couple of viburnums I could add to your collection. Our bluebells are just beginning to bloom. Your garden is taking shape. It is exciting to watch it unfold.

I've been trying to find a photo of turd blossom flowers and find out the scientific name for them. Do you happen to know it?

Thanks.

Adam as far as I know there is no such thing for real. If there was a scientific name it would be Karl Rove.
