I've been to clingmans' Dome many times. Smokies are awesome.

That fir is so pretty. I'm thinking it prefers your climate.
We have been so hot and dry. We were teased with just a few drops yesterday.

I wish I were there. How is the NC mtn life--especially garden life comparing to your Hawaii life? Do you miss the tropicals? Just curious because I am familiar with and love both places so well.

Lola we went again this year because two years ago the road was closed for repairs.

Sallysmom those firs like 5000 feet up plus. They are remnant Canadian fauna from the ice ages and only remain on the high peaks were it is cool and frigid cold.

Hi Erin. NC is beautiful and I love it here. I miss the gingers and heliconia a bit, but the tropics have nothing on the explosive growth we get in these temperate rain forests in the summer. Mostly I have been far too busy to miss Maui.

If I can't be on the water, I would want to be in the mountains. Beautiful.

Sounds like Cades Cove got it bad. Some of the other places did too. Hope you are ok.

Loveliness. Does it get cooler the higher up you go?
