Mountaintop Produce

I am loving the vegetable garden right now. It has been a long time since I grew produce. Sure I planted the orange and avocado trees that I plucked fruit from every year on Maui. The birds always planted the papaya that grew in the garden. This seems different, weirdly satisfying.

Always impatient, it was good to look back, not so long ago, at the state of the roadside vegetable garden on April the 2nd. I got a few radishes before they bolted and have been eating lettuce and spinach for a couple of weeks. The first yellow squash are ready and the promise of more produce to come is in the tiny little fruits being set.

We have had the best spring flower show in years and it is looking to be a good summer for roadside produce. The biggest vegetable garden planted up here in years. There will be pickles!

I'm growing tons of cukes to make pickles. No idea how to pickle. I hope you'll do an extensive post on the subject.

What a wonderful looking veggie bed. I too would like to see an expert's how to on pickle making. I made some many years ago, and was afraid to eat them, thinking they weren't processed correctly. We have been having cukes on salads and love the crispy texture and the loud crunch of fresh picked over store bought.

Always a shear pleasure to stop by and see your progress.
The garden is looking wonderful and the little cabin in the woods is looking thoroughly Thoreau.
Lovely.

Looks really nice! I hope you don't wind up with much varmint traffic in the veggie garden, but it sounds like you're safe thus far.
