Beautiful. It seems everything is blooming at once. My rhodies which normally do not bloom till 3rd week in May are opening now.
A knowledgeable gardener friend has suggested your pink anemone may actually be geranium maculatum? I will have to look at mine's leaves tomorrow to compare; dark now.
I was hoping you would enjoy this particular iris Siria.
Bev I saw the first of the big rhodos opening today. This one is usually the first though. The pink anemone is definitely not a Geranium maculatum. We have plenty of that here. I even pried open its petals to be sure it had anemone innards and it did. It was sunny today and may have bloomed. I should check in the morning to see if it is still open. Plus I found a ton more of that maroon single leaf coming from the ground and a few more with buds. And what else did I find? Some half breeds with a lilac stripe on the petal.
Gorgeous Iris. Do you know it's name? Mine are blooming but the blooms don't last very long in this heat. It's nice at night but does get rather warm in the day time. I have a couple white ones & the yellow/light lavender on the down petals are blooming their hearts out. 1st yr. for them. Plan to add more to the bed that are different. Perfect sunset.
Lola I have no idea what this iris is named. Have you tried the Louisiana iris. They will take your warm and come in lots of colors. Like most iris I think the individual flower only last a day at most of perfection.
Bev, I sure hope you can't patent a found natural selection. I could sell it though. Do you think there are enough hardcore woodland gardeners willing to pay for what amounts to specks of glitter in the bigger picture to make a profit?
Well I work with a bunch of hard core woodland gardeners, so the answer here would be yes, but I'm not a nursery person. You'd have to be able to propagate a lot of it. Avent (although I've heard he is a bit quirky) or some other of your many NC nurseries may be interested though. Worth a shot!

Happy Earth Day Christopher. Our purple irises are blooming too. I believe your mountain has about caught up with my garden.
Very pretty Iris this is the color I hope mine turn out to be :).
Happy Earth Day to you Lisa. Caught up with now. My zone, my zone.
Good luck Ben. It is going to be a surprise? You didn't choose before hand?
Funny! :)
And another gorgeous sunset.

Yes, actually I love the iris! I think it's funny they are next to a clothes line. I especially like the title of your post.
Christopher;
Oooh, sell me some! (: Or go show it to Tony Avent! Who needs work if you can patent a plant, haha!

Siria the title seemed perfect for Earth Day.

That first shot is a lovely one for Earth Day. A carbon free clothes drying system over top of a diverse lawn not chemically groomed to perfection.
