The Next Day

The sun came out. I stayed in.

My baby Kousa Dogwood stood back up when it was released from the snowy grip. So far the leaves are red and intact.

It was only six inches at most, but it was a crushing snow. Baby trees and shrubberies were bent to the ground through out the garden. One trunk of the Magnolia 'Jane' was split. I think the main trunk can be saved. My grasses are still buried.

This pretty much says it all. Autumn has come to an end. This year's killing frost was a doozy.

Wow - the season's change is about as subtle as a sledgehammer.
We are still in the soggy phase, but I would be happily mowing if it quits raining. I detest the danged time change! How come Hawaii and Arizona get to stay the same all year? Can all the other states copy that? Oh, sorry, rant over...

Yes Barry. There was nothing subtle about this year's season change. It was nice not doing DST in Hawaii until you had to call the mainland and figure out what time it was over there.

I can hardly believe you have snow. It is cold (30 degrees) and windy here in the higher elevations of Massachusetts, but I am hoping there will be no snow for a while yet.

I hope everything survives such an abrupt onslaught.
