OH MY...OH MY....I haven't had time to check your postings for a few days and boy what have I missed!!! It sounds like you got your daffodil bulbs planted just in time. What a gorgeous scene you awoke to this morning! Stay warm....I think winter has arrived.
(I have discovered I have voles. I hope they don't eat the few bulbs I have in my garden! Any suggestions on what to do about them?)
Cold but very lovely! Your views are spectacular Christopher, I can almost small the wood smoke and feel the cold air! A lovely day for a walk in the woods. Keep warm. Gail
We have voles too as you can imagine. Mostly they are ignored, but the main strategy is to plant daffodils which they won't eat. Their favorites seem to be tulips and crocus. With those you hope for the best or plant them in wire cages.
There are plenty of other bulbs to plant that don't seem to be bothered much, alliums, lilies, hyancinthoides and frittilaria to name a few.
Then of course it gets to the point where there are so many bulbs how would you know if the voles ate a few.
Yikes, it's finally arrived. Do add another layer. Seems a bit early but not like # l,2 & 3 months. One yr. we got 18" the 4/5 of #4. That was a shocker. In all accounts it is beautiful.
Hi Christopher, very beautiful, and your new camera is capturing it nicely. It was cold here too, but nothing like that. We have voles too, but here is a neat deterrent, cat poop from the litter box in the vole runs. They don't like that at all and a great use for something that is in endless supply!
Frances, I would have to go mining for the cat poop. I do know where it is. Still I think I'll just let them catch the voles which I have seen them do.
I think I need a cat! My dogs wouldn't like it if I got a cat though, so...maybe I will try the dog poop in the vole runs. Do you think the voles would know the difference?

Gail I was having flashbacks of living in Vail Colorado this morning while I was shoveling a path off the deck so I can go for a stroll today.
Yes, that looks cold, very cold. Too cold, too soon!
Where are you? This doesn't look like Clyde anymore.
