One Degree To Go

Will the Mum's mom make it to the top of a snow covered mountain? Or will a light blanket of white send shivers of driving dread into her heart? Will there even be a blanket of white tomorrow afternoon? The tall chicory had been cut down for the season to highlight the Sheffie Mum in its time of glory. All is ready.

It snained all day. After a trip to town for chocolate infused cookies, cakes and other confections, without which I would be unlikely to survive and a nice nap, I headed down to the cozy cabin to do a little work underneath.

In the top right corner of the picture above the Molera Vaquero Red columns you can make out some 2 x 4's I have been attaching to the main girders. This little detail project is to cover and protect gas lines and to hide all the straps, brackets and bolts fastening things together. The spacing wood is all on. Next a piece of 1 x 10 will cover it all and give a clean finished look to the girders supporting the cabin. All that needed to be done before I started my rigid insulation and siding sandwich to cover the insulation filled floor joists.

The colors work well I think.

2 ... 1

That really looks like snow and there is a bunch of it.

It's sticking. We have stickage. It is the first snow of the fall season. Yes we are having the first snow in the fall on October 17th, eleven days before last year's first snow. The first snow of 2007 was on December the 6th.

Snowshoes. I may need snowshoes this winter.

It is way too early to being shown scenes of snow, and I have only had just a taste of fall foliage. I hope it is brief for you.

Les, what can I say. I must go with the flow.

Christopher, I don't think you could have picked a better color for the support post. It goes very well with the color of the leaves. Beautiful.
Noticed how the light snow muted the colors of the leaves. Looks pretty.

Yes, your posts will be in perpetual fall perfectly colored. Hard to believe your first snain is so early. It was cold enough to snain here this week but luckily it didn't happen.

Well I made it, snow or no! Everything was magical, but the most magic of all was seeing Ms. Spot. Thanks for a great visit, Christopher. :-)

Such a hot color palette for such cold weather! Dissonance!
