The Icebergs That Remain

The suggested high for tomorrow is 22. The suggested return of the sun is on Sunday. The first hint of a high above freezing is for Wednesday. This morning the world was covered in a fresh dusting of snow and they say the wind is gonna blow. Melting has finished for the foreseeable future.

Close but not quite. There is still two week old snow on the deck. There is still six inches of two week old snow covering most of the ground, like the driveway down to the cabin.

Despite the frigid forecast I shoveled the cabin's driveway. Left covered in snow who knows when I would be able to get down there with the truck. Now with the more exposed gravel and dirt, the suggested solar radiation may heat the dark ground enough to melt the driveway clean despite the sub-freezing temperatures. Maybe by Tuesday. At the very least I can pull in off the road and shorten the distance things need to be toted.

The deep freeze begins.

Not much gardening then, huh?

Brrr. This is unusual for N. Carolina, is it not? At least the snow is insulating the soil and hopefully the flora will be fine.

Beautiful photos as usual.

Wow, you are a most determined workhorse. No inside jobs for you!
Keep those fingers warm; I am heading for Florida for 2 months!

Good deal on getting the cabin driveway done so you can get materials in there. That must have heated you up some anyway. Wednesday, huh? We must work quickly on days when the sun shines. I am watching the weather right now and they said the first significant snow for us is due Thursday. Interesting winter so far.

It was 9 here this morning and I am not talking wind chill. Brrrr We are getting this cold snap too. It feels more like a slap than a snap though. At least if you keep on digging you will keep warm for the short term. Be careful. Beautiful photos of cold and snow.
